Quotes

“In the sea of independent T-shirt companies that have emerged since the proliferation of the online store, there’s a lot more contrived crap to wade through before finding the truly creative stuff. If you’d rather not use chest-space to make light of the Spitzer scandal or quote There Will Be Blood, you might want to check out independent T-shirt designers Turn Nocturnal. In addition to clever emblems like “Beware of Beard”, their type-themed “Huge Type Looks Sweet” and “Sans-Serif” designs show potential for a killer line, one we will hopefully see from these current upstarts.” ― JoshSpear.com

“Western Massachussetts-based Turn Nocturnal design studio is the brainchild of designer Matt McInerney and his good friend Jack Strong. Busting onto the scene a few months ago with their best selling font driven “Huge Type Looks Sweet” t-shirt ( still a favorite of mine)” ― CoolHunting

“If there’s a brand that I’m increasingly excited to find out about their latest releases, Turn Nocturnal are it, they haven’t put out that many designs, but each one is a winner, and their latest offering is no different.” ― Hide Your Arms

“You know, I really appreciate t-shirts that break away from the whole time honored “chest centered design” tradition. It makes things a bit more interesting.

Take this one from Turn Nocturnal for example. The design itself is a pretty simple one. The thing that makes it interesting tho is that it’s executed in such a way that elevates the impact of the shirt as a whole.

Sure, the designer could have chose to make the plane come up from the bottom of the tee. But seriously, how many times has that been done? Enough to be pretty fucking tired to the likes of me, that’s for damn sure.

Honestly, I’m glad there are people out there trying something a bit different. And as long as they keep doing that, I’ll keep blogging their shit.” ― Preshrunk.org
